Boots 2 Cyber Selected as an Awardee on the Missile Defense Agency SHIELD Contract

Contract Number: HQ085926DF049

Boots 2 Cyber is proud to announce that we have been selected as an awardee under the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract. This contract vehicle, with a shared ceiling value of up to $151 billion over ten years, is designed to accelerate innovation and delivery across homeland missile defense mission areas.

As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Boots 2 Cyber brings veteran-led cybersecurity and operational technology (OT) expertise to support the evolving defense needs of the nation. Our selection as a SHIELD awardee positions us to compete for future task orders aligned with our core capabilities in OT and industrial control systems (ICS) security.

Advancing Cybersecurity Readiness for Homeland Defense

The SHIELD contract reflects the Department of Defense’s commitment to rapidly addressing complex, emerging threats through flexible contracting mechanisms and industry collaboration. For Boots 2 Cyber, this award underscores our dedication to advancing cybersecurity readiness while continuing to bridge the talent gap through veteran workforce development.

Through SHIELD, Boots 2 Cyber is focused on building and maturing capabilities designed to support mission-critical defense environments, particularly where cybersecurity intersects with operational technology and complex system integration.

Understanding the SHIELD Contract

The MDA’s SHIELD IDIQ is a flexible, enterprise-wide contracting vehicle intended to enable rapid competition and award of task orders supporting homeland missile defense priorities. The scope of SHIELD spans a broad range of mission areas, including sensors, intercept systems, command and control, and cybersecurity.

Key characteristics of the SHIELD contract include:

  • Scope: Support for layered defense against ballistic, hypersonic, cruise missiles, and other aerial threats
  • Flexibility: Rapid task-order competition to address emerging mission needs
  • Innovation Focus: Collaboration across industry, academia, and government
  • Duration and Value: A 10-year IDIQ with a shared ceiling value supporting long-term mission readiness

Boots 2 Cyber’s award under SHIELD enables us to compete for task orders aligned with our strengths in veteran-led cyber operations and ICS/OT security.

Advancing Capabilities Aligned to Integrated Homeland Defense

Modern homeland defense concepts emphasize integrated, layered protection across interconnected systems spanning space-based sensors, ground infrastructure, command centers, and operational networks. These complex environments present unique cybersecurity challenges, particularly within OT and ICS domains.

Boots 2 Cyber is purpose-built to address these challenges by:

  • Securing Operational Technology and Industrial Control Systems: Preparing cybersecurity solutions designed for mission-critical OT environments
  • Implementing Secure Architectures: Aligning with Department of Defense cybersecurity frameworks and best practices, including zero-trust principles
  • Veteran-Driven Expertise: Applying real-world military and operational experience to cyber defense problem sets
  • Ecosystem Collaboration: Leveraging industry tools and research to enhance resilience across critical infrastructure environments

Our focus is on readiness—building the people, processes, and technical depth required to support future mission demands as they emerge.

Empowering Veterans to Continue the Mission

At its core, Boots 2 Cyber is built on service — service to country, service to mission, and service to those who have already given so much. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), we understand that America’s veterans carry forward far more than technical skills; they bring leadership, accountability, and a mission-first mindset forged in complex operational environments.

Through Department of Defense–approved SkillBridge participation, academic partnerships, and industry collaboration, we create mission-driven career pathways that translate military leadership and operational experience into cybersecurity and operational technology (OT) security roles. By aligning veteran workforce development with national defense needs, we enable veterans to apply their leadership, decision-making, and systems-level thinking within modern OT environments — continuing to protect the critical infrastructure and systems that underpin our nation’s strength.

Partner With Us

The defense of our nation has always been a collective effort — built on trust, shared responsibility, and a common commitment to something greater than ourselves. Boots 2 Cyber seeks to collaborate with mission-aligned partners who believe that safeguarding America’s future requires both technical excellence and principled leadership.

We are committed to working alongside government stakeholders, prime contractors, and industry innovators to strengthen the cybersecurity and operational technology foundations that underpin national defense. Together, we stand ready to support the missions that protect our country, our people, and the values we serve.

Organizations interested in collaboration are encouraged to reach out to us to explore how we can work together in support of national defense missions.
